The excitement is palpable as the MLS All-Star roster is announced, showcasing Inter Miami’s stars, Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba, among the 26 players set to face Liga MX’s finest on July 23 at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas.
This year’s squad highlights a significant representation of the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), with seven players selected for the All-Star event, showcasing the growing talent pool in Major League Soccer.
The roster formation is a blend of fan, player, and media votes for 12 players, alongside selections by All-Star coach Nico Estévez and two picks from MLS Commissioner Don Garber. Messi and Alba earned their spots through fan voting, marking another appearance after previously being honored in 2024.
While both made the cut this time, notable absences include Luis Suárez and Sergio Busquets, who did not garner enough votes this year.
The Vancouver Whitecaps, leading the Western Conference, contributed four players to the roster, with Garber selecting Hirving Lozano from San Diego FC as his second choice.
As part of the festivities, selected All-Stars will also showcase their skills in the MLS Skills Challenge on July 22, adding to the excitement ahead of the match. Last year, Liga MX triumphed over MLS with a convincing 4-1 victory, setting the stage for a competitive rematch.
